Former “Citizen of the Year” Spanks Man For Unpaid Rent

The rental business is tough from both sides of the fence, with tenants often dealing with sleazy landlords, and landlords often dealing with nonpaying tenants, but that type of dispute sunk to a new low this week when a Waynesville, Ohio property owner took a belt to the backside of a man who he says owes him rent.

Proving that you never do know your neighbor, Ron Kronenberger was voted Waynesville’s Citizen of the Year in 2006, being recognized for his excellence in local business as both a rental property and supermarket owner, but his penchant for whipping the bare bums of grown men is only just now coming to light.

As the story goes, Kronenberger arranged to meet the 29-year-old tenant on January 22, 2013, at his office at the Hometown Marketplace, the Waynesville grocery store that he owns, wishing to discuss payment of $2,800 in overdue rent. Apparently talks broke down in a bad way, because Kronenberger eventually resorted to laying the man over his lap, pulling down his pants to reveal his buttocks, and whipped him four times with a belt, leaving “little marks” according to a police report.

How exactly the 53-year-old assailent managed to wrangle the much younger man over his knee with his pants down still hasn’t been publicly established, but Kronerberger has pleaded guilty and a sentencing hearing will follow within the next few months, promising to expose the event’s gritty details.
